A Recap of April 2024 Focus Areas

Tega Cay Council Women Carmen Miller Banner Slogan Purposeful Leadership

Hello Tega Cay,
April was a whirlwind, and I am so late in getting this recap out to you! Here are some highlights for April:

Chat with Council: Council member Hyslip and I held our April chat at the Tega Cay Tavern. We had our largest turnout yet and, as
always, great conversations. The hot topic this month was pickleball and tennis, with additional questions around maintenance of
current amenities and city facilities, road safety, and communication improvements. This continues to be a positive, open
conversation. If you have the opportunity, please join us at our upcoming meeting scheduled for May 22nd at 6:00 pm at the
Stonecrest Villas Community Center.

Parking Permits/Park Use: An ordinance was introduced and passed a first reading to increase the non-resident parking decal fee
from $100 to $200. The second reading is scheduled for the May 20th Council Meeting.

Parking Attendant: In addition to the change in the parking decal fee, a parking attendant will be hired to manage and check for
parking decals at Windjammer Park. They will be at the park every weekend until September 8th, from 11:00 am to 7:00 pm, as well
as on Memorial Day, July 4th and 5th, and Labor Day. The attendant will be turning away any vehicle that does not have a parking
decal, including those of residents. Please stop by the City Admin Building and get your parking decal. It is FREE to residents and
includes your golf carts!

Quarterly Public Safety Updates: Did you know that our Fire Chief Hasty and Police Chief Crosby hold a quarterly public safety
update? I was able to attend their meeting on April 24th. It’s a great opportunity to hear about our current city safety stats, learn
about new training being done by our departments, and connect with our police and fire department officers.

Deer Population Control: A citywide communication survey was re-launched on April 8th. The information gathered will be used as
data points when considering next steps in the Deer Management Program.

City Wide Communication: To ensure you receive timely updates via email or text, register here:
https://www.tegacaysc.org/list.aspx. There is also now the option of a City Communication App and a Police Department App. Here
are their QR codes and links to download:
City App: https://apps.myocv.com/share/a115429708
Police App: https://apps.myocv.com/share/a112729708

Thank you for your continued support, and as always, I am open for conversations. It’s only been four months since being sworn in,
and I can wholeheartedly say I’m so proud to serve our city. There are difficult as well as fully rewarding conversations, less-than perfect
systems that we are working to improve, and I’m learning fast. We have the best city in SC!
